This book is a phenomenal account of Colonel Milburn's development from a young combat leader to a seasoned veteran that understands the macro-impact, of micro-actions by the men on the ground. He is not afraid to highlight the mistakes of U.S. policy makers in Iraq, without diminishing the sacrifice of American service members.It is especially interesting because by the time I had the privilege to serve under him he was already an establish and experienced combat leader. My fondest memory of him will always be an early morning hike in 2008, in which he carried a 240B (no easy task), the entire way. Every stop along the way to hydrate or change socks, he walked the line checking on his Marines . A Marines Marine!
